Heritage Resources Distinguished Speakers

We are pleased to offer a quarterly lecture series featuring speakers who are authorities in their respective fields and who have used Heritage Resources' collections significantly in their research. The events alternate between the Special Collections space (6th floor Wilson Library) and the Goltz-Murray Archives Building (808 25th Street). Programs are free and we welcome attendance from members of both the campus and broader community.

Through the Lens of Wallie V. Funk

An exhibit of photographs taken by noted and prolific photojournalist Wallie V. Funk, who co-owned the Anacortes American, the Whidbey News-Times, and the South Whidbey Record. During his career, Funk photographed a diverse and eclectic range of subjects, including several U.S. presidential visits to Washington State; the Beatles’ and Rolling Stones’ concerts in Seattle; the 1970 Penn Cove whale capture; local and regional accidents and disasters (both natural and man-made); and community events and military activities on Whidbey Island.  The exhibit is located in Special Collections (Wilson Library 6th floor) and is available for viewing Monday-Friday 11am-4pm (closed holidays) through May 2016.

The Special Collections space includes ten unique display cases the feature rotating selections of books and other items from our holdings. Check back regularly to see what's new. View all Special Collections displays.
